How can I buy a painting?

Paintings indicated as for sale on the website can be purchased using the paypal button on the close up of the painting. For enquiries about availability of other works or commissions please email the image along with any questions to info@benhughesart.co.uk.

Paintings will be despatched within 5 days unless the painting is indicated as being included in a particular show, in which case it will be despatched within 5 days of the closing date of the exhibition.

Can I return a painting if I change my mind?

All the paintings for sale on the website include post, packing and delivery worldwide. If you are not satisfied with the painting on receipt you can return it within 28 days for a refund. Provided that the painting is received back undamaged the cost of the painting less post, packing and delivery will be refunded.

What about frames?

All paintings are priced unframed. This enables cheaper and easier delivery and also allows you to choose a frame that suits you and your home. The paintings are all in artist quality oil paint on 3mm mdf - double primed on the face and single primed on the reverse.

Why are there all the different styles?

The artist says, "Each style evolves semi autonomously as a reaction to the purpose of the painting. The plein air paintings are naturally fresh and energetic as I try to capture the moment, whereas the paintings from photos of further afield are more carefully considered and I try to more closely evoke my memory of a place. The portraits are different again with more emphasis on achieving an impact or reaction in the viewer both aesthetically and intellectually."

How much are commissions and how do I go about commissioning a painting?

Ben undertakes both landscape and portrait work to commission - click here for a table of guideline prices. It is a guideline only and prices will vary depending on the complexity of the subject.

If you are interested in commissioning a painting or drawing then please send an email outlining your requirements and we will send you an estimate of the price and full details of the commission process.

A little bit of small print - The prices are for work unframed but include delivery in the UK. One third of the agreed price is payable as a deposit with the balance payable on approval of the finished work. The deposit is only payable when the composition has been agreed and you are certain you wish to proceed - outline pencil sketches will be provided where necessary to ensure both parties understand what is being undertaken and to give you a choice of different poses or angles if applicable.

What happened to the old website?

We have attempted to create a new feel to this website aiming to present the artwork in a more accessible way. Anyone missing Ben's previous website will be relieved to know that he is currently working on a new website to show his growing collection of writings and drawings. Although given the length ot time it's taken to set up this site it would probably be unwise to hold your breath. Ben can be found blogging away on Myspace with commentary on recent paintings and anyone suitably intrigued about Ben's previous website can get a small taste by clicking here.
